Like so many of our Rotary members, Brian Dunkel shares his time, talents and treasure to help make a difference at home and around the world. His technical talents are evident at every meeting. The now 53-year-old Michigan native earned his math and computer science degree at MIT in 1993 and Masters at University of Michigan at Ann Arbor 6 years later. Brian used his skills working with Union Bank in Switzerland for 2 years before returning to Michigan and then Boston while developing his computer business and growing a family.
Brian eventually married his college sweetheart, Kimmerie, who is Hawaii architect Vladimir Ossipoff’s granddaughter. The family moved to Hawaii in 2016, where they continue to support Kimmerie’s mother and help prepare their 18-year-old son for upcoming college in Arizona. Kimmerie’s costume designs can be seen locally on stage, and Brian’s computer business includes working with IBM’s marketing division. But when it comes to our Rotary club’s technology…he says, "I want to replace myself.”
Brian is looking forward to helping another tech-minded member to take the helm behind the computer during meetings in the near future. As 2025-26 President Elect of our club, Brian’s focus needs to shift. He also has been tapped to manage the Rotary International Convention Website in the 2026-27 year. “I am looking forward to being a unifier, listening to the members’ perspectives and supporting suggested projects in our community and with Rotary International efforts around the world. It was my sponsor Robyn McCreary and the club members I met who inspired me to join, and I hope to inspire others to embrace Service Above Self.”
