DOUG HARPER
Executive Director, Malama Maunalua
Maunalua Bay

Doug is the Executive Director, having started in the position in 2017. Prior to working for Malama Maunalua, he spent 8 years working at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration partnering with communities looking to protect their environment and community. Doug believes that strong partnerships, community support, and utilizing the best available information is critical to creating sustained conservation and management success. When he isn’t working, he spends time hiking, diving, beaching, and trying to burn off his dog’s energy, which is a full time job unto itself. Doug holds a Juris Doctor, Masters of Urban Planning, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, all from the University of Kansas.
