If you’ve never been to one of our community service projects or attended a Paul Harris event, you are missing out on a great opportunity to be of service and get to know your fellow Rotarians. Personally, some of my best Rotary connections have come from these events. There is no better way to get to know someone than to roll up your sleeves and pitch in! We have lots to choose from in the coming month with times and activities to fit any schedule.
We still need a few more volunteers to pitch in on the YMCA project. We need a wide range of skills - DIY construction skills, sweeping, washing, dusting, scrubbing and vacuuming. The most important skill? An attitude of willing service! See the announcement below for more details and to sign up!
Our lunch meeting next week will feature the winning videos of our 'Olelo Peacemakers Video Contest. Come be inspired by different ideas the young student winners have for how we can create more peace in the world.
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Honolulu nominate the following members to serve a 3-year term as Trustee beginning July 1, 2025. Voting on the slate of candidates will be held at the beginning of the Tuesday, May 28 noon lunch meeting. Please join us in person at the Outrigger Canoe Club or via Zoom to cast your vote and show your support. We need to reach quorum, so even if you can only join for the first 10 minutes of the meetings, we need you there. Come support your fellow members!

This project begins May 6th and runs through May 25th on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

YMCA of Honolulu NEEDS YOU! The help request is to refurbish residential facilities at the Atkinson Central facility. YMCA of Honolulu provides housing at low cost and low-barrier to those who are housing insecure, or in need of transitional housing - many are houseless-but-working folks. ATKINSON'S affordable housing fills a critical need for this population.
YOUR help will bring more residential units online so those on a daily waitlist can gain access to the services and get off the street!

You are invited to attend this special lunch meeting not only in fellowship but to support and congratulate the 'Olelo Peacemaker Video Winners! These young folks are our future! These exceptional youth put together and created their idea of how to problem-solve a situation and create PEACE in our World.
Beginning May 22, on-site parking will only be available for Outrigger members and their registered cars (decaled), and unfortunately, guest parking will not be an option. At this time, there is not an estimated date on when parking restrictions will be lifted.
To ensure everyone's experience remains smooth and stress-free, it is recommended to explore alternative transportation options and inform any guests accordingly. Options such as Uber, carpooling with other attendees, or parking along nearby streets can help alleviate any potential challenges caused by the limited on-site parking.
Alternate Parking: There is usually ample parking around Kapiolani Park on Kalākaua Avenue at only 25 cents per half hour (coin meters - so bring quarters!) For those who can walk a little further, Jim Harrow alerted us to Paki Avenue on the mauka side of the park that has free parking with no time limit.
Please let President Joanna know if you have mobility issues or need assistance with parking and she will connect you with members who can provide assistance.
