Purpose

Our project is part of a larger project to get a dictionary into the hands of every student in the United States while he or she is in elementary school.  Students in this very important age group (in terms of learning and development) are given dictionaries to develop their vocabulary and general language skills.  Many of these students would not have received a dictionary if not for this project.  In addition, Rotarians discuss the benefits and goals of the Rotary Club.  The Rotary Club of Honolulu distributes 1,000 books to 10 different schools primarily in the Kalihi area (Kaahumanu, Kalihi Waena, Kapalama, Kauluwela, Lanakila, Likelike, Lincoln, Maemae, Manoa and Nuuanu).
