Forensic Anthropologist

Serial Killers, Skeletons, and Cemeteries: Forensic Anthropology Around the World

Robert Mann is a prominent forensic anthropologist known for his significant contributions to the field, particularly in identifying human remains and training forensic professionals in Thailand. 

Bob will give an introduction and overview of the techniquies and methods used in forensice anthropology as they apply to helping solve police and medical examiner cases around the world.  He will highlight some of the more famous cases that he has worked on in his 45-year career, including Jeffrey Dahmer's first victim, 9/11, cemetery excavations in Thailand and elsewhere, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. 

A professor at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and the founding Director of the Central Idetification Laboratory's Forensic Science Academy, he has a rich background in forensice anthropology, having previoulsy served as the Assistant Morgue Director at the University of Tennessee School of medicine and as an anthropologist at the Smithsonian Institution. Bob has examined over 4,000 human skeletons from various contexts, including ancient and modern remains.
