Our speaker this week, Dr. Kim-Anh, gave a great and informative talk about the Blood Bank of Hawaii. She shared some very valuable information on how unique the Blood Bank in Hawaii is compared to other locations across the country. As usual our members asked very pertinent questions helpful to us all.
See you this Tuesday at The Outrigger Canoe Club for our meeting.
I'm a coordinator for a healthy diet and lifestyle study conducted by Dr. Loic Le Marchand at the UH Cancer Center. We were wondering if you would be willing to include information about the study in your online Tradewind Newsletter? We are trying to reach members of the community on Oahu to see if they are interested in volunteering for this study.
The study looks at two different healthy diets combined with regular physical activity to see which is best at reducing body fat, especially visceral abdominal fat, the kind that puts people at greater risk for chronic diseases and some types of cancers. It is a great opportunity for individuals to adopt healthy habits and receive free dietary counseling by a nutritionist for 24 weeks.
Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM), a time to recognize older Americans’ contributions, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm our commitment to serving older adults.
Submit your nomination to recognize an older adult who is 65+ years; Honolulu Resident and has provided outstanding community service within the year.
If you have questions, please call (808) 768.7778 or email Kimberly Itagaki.
Rotary Club of Honolulu members, we know many who could and should be nominated! Please take a few moments to complete the application for someone you believe should be recognized!
Thank you, members, for helping to fill in the pukas on our weekly schedules! Greeters, Pledge and Music Leaders, Inspiration Givers ... YOU are appreciated!
If you would like to help, watch for the signup sheet!
