So despite a few hiccups, we were able to seat everyone for our most recent lunch and Talk-Story with Mayor Blangiardi. Thank you to everyone who signed up in advance and helped us to accommodate parking at The Pacific Club. Although we were successfully able to get everyone in, there are still some areas where we need to improve our process. If you attended the lunch, look for an upcoming survey that will help us determine the impact of parking, especially for those who did not park directly at the venue. For those who were not at the meeting, in addition to the lively discussion with Da Mayor, we inducted our two newest members into the Club. Everyone should make an effort to get to know Dave Brittin and Maria Song and welcome them to our ohana.
I know that this newsletter goes out to many who are not members of the Club, but those of you who are members should make sure that you are able to access your account in Club Runner. If you have trouble accessing Club Runner, please reach out to me or to Lee for assistance. Especially if you have not done so in a while, I encourage everyone to take a look at your information and make sure that it is up to date. In particular, I’d like to make sure that we have a good photo of each member, as we hope to bring back the electronic version of the Membership Directory. (If you want a “dead trees” version, you will need to print one out on your own.) Thanks to Carol Sakata for volunteering to help once again revive this tradition.
This coming week we will not have a regular meeting. Instead, we will have three Paul Harris events – two on Monday and one on Thursday morning. Monday morning, our recent guest speakers from Hawaii FiDo (and their dogs) will be at Princess Ke'elikolani School (across the intersection from The Pacific Club) to meet the students. Then in the afternoon, we will have an opportunity to take a tour of the Bayer Farms operation in Kunia. Very early Thursday morning, we will be taking a tour of the Honolulu Fish Auction at Pier 38, hosted by the United Fishing Agency. I look forward to seeing several of you at each of these events.
The following week, we will once again be at Oahu Country Club for a presentation by forensic anthropologist Robert “Bob” Mann. If you have not already signed up for that lunch, please do so as soon as possible. We appreciate your cooperation.

Warm greetings from Taipei!
As many of our international sister club members will be visiting Taiwan for the Rotary
International Convention 2026, the Rotary Club of Taipei is in the early stages of planning a
Welcome Dinner to celebrate our long-standing friendship and fellowship. We are also
planning to invite all the Rotary International dignitaries, including all the PRIPs, to this event,
so this gathering will also represent a rare opportunity to meet and interact with the Rotary
International VIPs.
The dinner is planned for: Friday, June 12, 2026 (evening) Location: Sheraton Hotel Taipei Grand Ball Room
At this preliminary stage, we would be most grateful if you could kindly let us know whether
your club may be interested in attending, and, if possible, provide a rough estimate of the
number of members who might participate.
This information will greatly assist us in our initial planning and venue arrangements.
Please note that this is only a preliminary inquiry, and a formal invitation with full details will
follow at a later date.
We truly hope to have the opportunity to spend a meaningful evening together in fellowship
during this special Rotary occasion, and we very much look forward to welcoming our sister
clubs to Taipei.
With warm Rotary friendship,
Andrew Wong
President, Rotary Club of Taipei
2025–2026
