I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Labor Day holiday weekend. Of course, my weekend activities included the second of our two project Saturdays at the Susannah Wesley Community Center (SWCC). I had a wonderful opportunity to chat with several folks who came out to participate including Amand Ellis, Theresa Dizon, Antonet Barut, Michelle Dolan, Nancy Youngren and Rich Proctor. I was also thrilled to learn that Shannon Melton was interested in becoming our Club social media coordinator, so I immediately asked her to take the lead in documenting our project in conjunction with the social media coordinator for SWCC. Check out the short video that SWCC produced and sent to us with their thank you note.
Remember that next week will be a Paul Harris week. On Monday, Sage Price will be hosting a tour of his fruit tree farm (Sweet Trees Hawaii) in Mililani. On Tuesday, Bub Wo will be organizing a tour of The Pantry by Feeding Hawaii Together, which is Hawaii’s only e-commerce food pantry, operating year-round to provide free, nutritious food to local families. Judy Lind will be hosting us at the Kukui Center, which hosts a number of collocated social service providers and has been the site of recent RCOH community service projects. I hope to see many of you there for what I’m sure will be excellent opportunities for fellowship and learning.
The following week, we will once again be back at our “home base” for a meeting at the Pacific Club to hear Wendy Hensel, President of the University of Hawaii system, speak to us about the challenges facing higher education in the current environment. There is still space to sign up, but we are filling the room, so if you haven’t already, be sure to sign up on Club Runner or send a note to Lee LaBrash to get your name on the list.

Service Project in Review
The Rotary Club of Honolulu with many community friends, (several brought and led by our Don Anderson Youth Leadership Fellow, Oliver Bartlmae), gave of their time and talents with happy hearts to help spruce of the SWCC.
Each Saturday (Aug. 16 & 30) 30+ participants showed up!
On behalf of the staff, volunteers and participants of the Susannah Wesley Community Center I extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the time you graciously shared over 2 Saturdays to brighten up our Center! Beyond the lasting impact of painted walls, railings, and seating areas, we treasure the opportunity to meet all of you as people lending a helping hand.
Please find our official invitation for 77th Charter Anniversary!
