A MESSAGE FROM
PRESIDENT TOM COYNE

Aloha and Happy June to all.

This is the last month of our 2024-25 Rotary Year and my last month as your President. At the District Convention this weekend all current Presidents were asked to give Crown of Wishes for our incoming President, Brian Dunkel.  This was my Wishes:

My Crown of Wishes for President Elect Brian Dunkel:

To our new President of The Rotary Club of Honolulu.
A Crown of wishes is many things in one, and as stated in Hindu Mythology: you will get a single wish to start your term, use it wisely.
Allow me to add my wishes:
  • Do not try to answer all 100 emails and texts that you will receive daily.  I have found that a lot of people send emails not really expecting an answer and since most of our members are aged, they won’t remember sending them.
  • You are a shooting star that will fade, fizzle, and disappear, hopefully this will happen close to July 1st next year.
  • You have received a great honor by being nominated for the Presidents job, try not to screw it up, and remember we have only been around for 110 years.
  • Also remember that the best job in Rotary is to be a Past President and you are almost there, 12 months to go.
You were invaluable to me during my term as President and know that I will be there to support you were needed.

Best regards,
Tom Coyne
President
The Rotary Club of Honolulu

ATTENDING THE SULAWESI ANNIVERSARY IN INDONESIA?

As your Admin I am sending this to you on behalf of your Board of Directors and Hiroko who is helping arrange the information for the Ceremony of Kyoto's Indonesia Project.  Please contact Hiroko ASAP if you are attending.  MAHALO!

The ceremony will be held on July 18th at site, Napu, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia.

Kyoto RC travel Plan is as follows so far:
16th, fly to Jakarta
17th, From Jakarta to Palu (Sulawesi Island)
18th, Drive 4 hours on a dirt road, ceremony and come back on the same day to Palu.
19th, Go back to Jakarta. Possibly small reception on 19th evening at Jakarta with Rotarians.
20th, go back to Japan.

Palu Rotary will come to pick up Kyoto RC at the Palu airport so it would be better if Honolulu Rotary comes at the same time as Kyoto, using the same flight from Jakarta to Palu (once a day flight)

This is a rough schedule, but please let me (Hiroko) know if anyone would like to participate.

KYOTO 100th ANNIVERSARY

Dear Rotary members:

I am sending this e-mail because I believe that you are interested in going to Kyoto Rotary's 100th Anniversary on Oct 7th (Pre-event night for sister clubs), and on Oct 8th (Main event).

I was told by Kyoto to let them know the names of the participants as soon as possible, so please let me know if you are still planning to attend this event.

Also, if you know someone who is also planning to go, but not on this e-mail list, please let me know.

I am not organizing any tours this time since we are only going to Kyoto, but we can drop by Osaka East Rotary Club on Oct 9th in Osaka.

Thank you,
Hiroko
