Create Lasting Impact

A MESSAGE FROM

PRESIDENT CAROLANN AND

PAST PRESIDENT BRIAN

Aloha kākou,

Thank you to everyone who attended our Change of Command meeting last Tuesday. It was a true celebration filled with good wishes, pride, laughter, flower lei, and lots of photos. The poster board aloha card signed by all featured Brian surfing the waves, as he surely has throughout his Presidential year. As the commitment ceremony got underway with District Governor Elect Rich Proctor officiating, the new officers and directors stood together, empowered to chart the future success of our Club. The Club’s gift to Brian, a distiller’s edition Lagavulin single-malt Scotch with appropriate glassware, will be enjoyed for months to come.

If you weren’t able to enjoy the event in person, Brian reflected on the highlights of his Rotary year, especially his major focus on fostering an excellent club experience for all members and guests at the Pacific Club. He happily recognized his team as well as several inspirational mentors including Rob HaleReese LiggettJudy LindClif PurkiserLinda CobleMichelle DolanMichael MarshErik Soderholm and Don Anderson. Announcements included a short discussion about the 2026-27 dues structure, and the letter and invoice were distributed. Look for yours in an email soon and please return it by July 15.

As the gavel was passed and I spoke my first words to you as President, the aloha and support in the room was tangible. Thank you for your trust in me and our new leadership team.

The theme set by Rotary International President Yinka Babalola of Nigeria for this year is Create Lasting Impact. The Rotary Club of Honolulu’s 111th anniversary was on July 1. The lasting impact made by our club for more than a century is a solid platform on which to build. I’m excited and ready for our Club’s next chapter of growth and dreams fulfilled. I hope you are too.

Al Linton has invited us to a pancake breakfast on the 4th of July at his home in Kaneohe. Drop by between 8:00 a.m. to noon to socialize and celebrate America’s 250th. Details can be found below.

Our featured speaker on Tuesday, July 7 will be John De Fries, Executive Director, Maunakea Stewardship and Oversight Authority. The former HTA President & CEO is coming from Hawai‘i Island just for our club, so don’t miss this chance to meet him. We’ll also share our goals, upcoming highlights, and the vision guiding our year ahead.
