Despite some initial technological issues with the sound system, we had another good meeting on Tuesday with a presentation by Dan Haire of Navian Hawaii. He spoke about the work that Navian does in hospice care with a commitment to compassionate care, operational excellence, and community trust. He also shared the origin of the name Navian, which is a combination of “Navigator” and “Guardian”, capturing the idea that they both help families find their way through end-of-life issues while making sure that the needs and wishes of the individual are always protected.
I want to thank everyone who took the time to help us test our new process for managing parking space availability at The Pacific Club. It looks like we still have some education to provide and some tweaks to make to the system, but in general I received positive feedback about the experience. We will need to see how well the system works when we have more than forty-five people wanting to park at the venue, but this initial exercise seems to have validated its feasibility.
This coming Tuesday we will once again be at The Pacific Club to hear from Kaiali'i Kahele, Board Chair of The Office of Hawaiian Affairs. The topic of his presentation will be “Strengthening Native Hawaiians to Strengthen Hawaii”. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

A request from our Don Anderson Service Above Self Youth Fellow, Christian Stockwell:
From March 24, 2026, email, Christian shared that he has been "spearheading relief efforts after the flooding, leading a small team helping homes in the community dig themselves out of the mud and assisting with beach cleanup as well. I also reached out to other Don Anderson Youth Fellows for help, and Oliver, Jack, Nik have answered the call and have been out here helping too."
His request is for Rotary Club members who may have "any surplus tools or supplies that could help with the current relief efforts. Items like squeegees, shovels, gloves, cleaning supplies, or emergency water. Even a small amount of support could go a long way right now."
Our President Brian announced this request at our Tuesday meeting. Please reach out to President Brian,Christian Stockwell, or Admin Lee if you have items they can use and/or want to join with them.
Support our Don Anderson Fellows if you can! We are very proud of them for their Service to others!
ATTENTION CURRENT AND INCOMING BOARD MEMBERS:
Our annual Action Plan/Strategic Planning session takes place this Saturday via Zoom at 9 a.m. This workshop is designed to help every club design their Action Plan for the coming 2026-ʻ27 Rotary year. Clubs that have a current Action Plan and have actively engaged their club board, tend to be more productive and active than clubs who donʻt.
We invite all club leaders, committee chairs, club board members and any interested Rotarians to participate in this important training.
