We are seeking weekly volunteers to be:
Greeters! Bring your amazing spirits and smiles! Welcome members and guests!
Pledge Leaders! Even if you are shy, this is a good way to start braving the waters to stand before your fellows and lead them for a few moments!
Inspiration! Everyone has something that has touched them, helped them, or just brought some joy. This might be through a personal experience, a quote, a poem, some wholesome laughter from a funny joke, a short story, ... whatever inspires you or whatever you feel will inspire others - we want to hear from YOU!
Our incoming Board Director of Service Programs, Nancy Youngren has called us to help support "Monitors for Maui"!

Do you, or your family, friends, or co-workers, have any gently used computer monitors that need a good home? Please consider donating them to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies for their project providing computers to students on Maui affected by the wildfires. Any kind, any size will be appreciated.
Please contact Nancy and she will coordinate a pickup from you. Thank you for your kokua in helping to make a difference for the children on Maui.
Lauralee is reaching out on behalf of the TRY Center with PACT's upcoming community event in Kalihi, the Cool Down Fest, scheduled forJune 14th, 2024, in front of our KPT Resource Center located at 1485 Linapuni St., Honolulu, HI 96819.
The Cool Down Fest will be a day of fun-filled activities and relaxation for TRY Center members and their families. The event, running from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, will feature carnival games, water activities such as a waterslide and dunking booth, and food for all participants and volunteers.

Principal Conductor & Artistic Director of the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra
Chinese-Australian conductor Dane Lam is Music Director of the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra (assuming the post of Music Director in July 2023) and Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Xi’an Symphony Orchestra.
Born in Brisbane, Australia to an Australian mother and a Singaporean-Chinese father, Dane played piano, clarinet, and saxophone as a child, and studied conducting under Gwyn Roberts at the University of Queensland.
He was the first conductor in the history of Opera Queensland to be honoured with an official position when he was appointed their Associate Music Director and Resident Conductor in December 2020.
Parking at the Outrigger will be limited to Outrigger Canoe Club members with decals only starting June 10. See below for alternative parking options. Alternate Parking: There is usually ample parking around Kapiolani Park on Kalākaua Avenue at only 25 cents per half hour (coin meters - so bring quarters!) For those who can walk a little further, Jim Harrow alerted us to Paki Avenue on the mauka side of the park that has free parking with no time limit. Join us as we transition our leadership from President Joanna Amberger to President Elect Tom Coyne. Our Change of Command celebrations are full of fun, laughter, and yes, even some tears.
Register as soon as possible! Come bid Joanna a fond farewell as our President while welcoming Tom in as our new President.
Dr. Chun, raised on O'ahu where his upbringing provided him a deep appreciation for the stewardship kuleana that we as a community bear to ensure Hawai'i's natural environment is preserved for future generations.
He has a rich history in our educational system, has been responsible for the restoration and stewardship of several significant cultural sites. Dr. Chun takes his Stewardship to the highest level. “I have seen firsthand the challenges facing Maunakea and UH’s stewardship of the mauna,” says Chun. “My top priority is serving the mountain itself and finding a way where its cultural and historic significance is uplifted by astronomy, not diminished by it.”
His background includes specific interests in leadership, organizational development and strategic planning with a strong emphasis on engaging community. He has served as president of the Hawai'i Island Economic Development Board and is active with several Hawai'i Island and Oahu non-profits.
Christine Camp is president and CEO of Avalon Group, a company she founded 25 years ago. Avalon has developed industrial residential and commercial projects throughout the islands with a focus on filling missing gaps in Hawaii's communities. Over the last 20 years, Avalon has been one of the most prolific developers in the West Oahu region with 19 commercial and industrial projects that helped create job centers for these suburban communities. The company is now poised to deliver approximately 1,000 units in the downtown Honolulu areas that require creative solutions to bring about adaptive re-use of office buildings. In addition to receiving several Developer of the Year awards, Christine has taken leadership in government-appointed positions and served on numerous councils, business, development, and real estate boards. She received her business degree from Hawaii Pacific University and is a licensed broker, licensed contractor, a CCIM and a Counselor of Real Estate.
Ian Lind is an award-winning investigative reporter, columnist, and blogger who has been writing about Hawaii politics, government, and media for over 30 years.
He has written extensively about the racketeering case of former Kamaaina Termite owner, Michael J. Miske, both for his own blog (www.iLind.net) and for Civil Beat, the online news organization. His coverage of the case, going back more than five years, has been second to none.
Incoming President Tom Coyne has been working closely with our current and 2025 Club Treasurer Lucci Pinoliad, as well as with current President Joanna Amberger to finalize our budget for 2025. With membership staying steady at 117 members and with inflation increasing the cost of operating the club, we have little choice but to implement an increase for our membership dues. The chart shows the current dues rate and the new dues rate effective July 1, 2024.
