Description of Thailand Project

Our project will be at Ban Mae Village which is the Sanpatong District and about 45 minutes from Chiang Mai city. The village has 290 families with 829 people. They are northern Thai people who work growing rice and vegetables. They are also very good wood carvers. The school there serves three villages and has 125 kindergarten to grade six students.

We will be remodeling an old canteen into a school and community multipurpose center. Participants can choose to work on the construction project or teach English to the students.

We will have meals and comfortable accommodations at the Chiang Mai YMCA Hotel with two (2) people per room. Sightseeing and shopping opportunities will be generous on this trip. They will include Prathat Doi Temple, Chiang Mai night bazaar, elephant camp, orchid farm, local fresh market, handicraft village, Thai restaurants and free time. We will also enjoy a free day in Seoul, Korea, on the way home.

This trip will be a good experience for couples so many spouses are expected.
